The Austrian Cultural Forum Budapest is an institution by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs and makes an important contribution to building bridges between Austria and Hungary in the arts. As a former employee, I am always on the look out for the work of the Cultural Fora abroad. When Regina Rusz, my former boss, became the Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum, I watched even more closely. I am really excited that I had the chance to not only attend an exhibition but also be able to get insights behind the scenes which I am sharing in my video with you.
This video gives you a glimpse into the Forum’s work using a visual arts exhibition as an example. I attended the exhibition “The Past and the Present” in December 2017, where Austrian artist Christina Werner and Hungarian artist Benedek Regös presented their works about memorial culture.
The Forum hosts eight to nine exhibitions per year. All of them are partner exhibitions of an Austrian artist and a Hungarian artists. There are also group exhibitions. The Forum’s work is not only limited to visual arts, there are also literature and music events, for example.

Special thanks to Regina Rusz and her team!
